Need a gift for a gifted musician?
Hello! This is Myles and I love music! It's pretty much everything I do and/or think about. Most of the time, I find myself thinking of ways daily life relates to music.
I first started playing music on the piano at age 7 and took lessons for 8 years. Eventually I picked up the acoustic guitar, thanks to my amazing guitarist brother, and shortly after that I also picked up the drums. Around 20 years of age I began playing in the church band, starting at drum position. Not long after this, I took some interest in the bass guitar (which I now love) and began playing bass for the church as well (due to other musicians moving in and out of the band).
Around the beginning of 2011, I was contemplating a visit to Ocean's Edge School of Worship, which my pastor suggested I look into. Well, I did, and as of this writing I am finishing that very year at Ocean's Edge. All I can say is that it's been quite a good time, with many great little things that have gone on! =)
I enjoy motion picture soundtracks immensely. Hearing John Williams' score for Jurassic Park is the first memory I have of falling in love with motion picture music. Since then, I've added James Horner, Howard Shore, John Barry, Hans Zimmer, and Clint Mansell to my list of favorite listening material. Film scores have a power in them that I am simply moved by. I can patiently listen to the entire Lord of the Rings soundtrack and somberly be moved to tears as the texture and emotion pours into my ears. Nothing gets me more excited than listening to or composing music.
