    1. Wintermute on November 17, 2009 00:34

Musically this is one of my favourite pieces you've done. The arrangement is great, never gets boring, the groove is very strong. Mix-wise I think it's one of your weaker efforts; the whole thing seems overly muddy and lacks mid-range clarity.

    2. Mr. Squirrel on November 17, 2009 02:07

@Wintermute: over the past few weeks hearing intermittently i've come to agree truthfully with that and i thank you for your honest ear. in addition, in a therefore somewhat fortuitous happening, release on this track has postponed indefinitely and ultimately can and probably will get a touch up. i think reverb on african drums could come down, and various other things relating to mid range clarity. cheers again for the guidance! :D

this is really cool man - the synths make it both ethereal and cosmic.....and the frenetic percussion and groove carry it along nicely. I dig!

    2. Mr. Squirrel on September 16, 2009 05:16

@Rich Jones: cheers rich! spacey has been my mind set. pure nebula is my brain recently. so this re rub saw a fair amount of spacification.

I think you could do more with the gated-bit, but the chimes are so nice.

    2. m50 on September 13, 2009 15:45

@m50: or, I mean, you could do less with it to... does that make any sense?

    3. Mr. Squirrel on September 14, 2009 01:52

@m50: totally. thanks mate. in a few days once this has marinated a bit longer for me i'm going to go back and settle a few level queries, maybe that might clear it up? it is meant to be a bit kinetic and swirly, and i do understand that's not for everyone. thanks for the nod to going deeper though!

Is that from Antiloop? It reminded me of early days... Great variety man, as usual!

    2. Mr. Squirrel on November 15, 2009 01:03

@Victorius: thank you so so much for all of your comments!! yes!! that is antiloop and i can't tell you the delight i got from someone recognizing that. blew me away when i was a young lad and part of the joy i got from doing tracks like this when i was doing them was the idea of literally colliding as much of my interests and favorite pure sounds into (hopefully the conceit was) reflections of who i am/was. lofty concepts to be sure, and for the most part it was really "oh wow, antiloop CAN go with noel gallagher can go with enigma can go with jamiroquai can go with elbow. haha." thanks again mate, your thoughtful and moving comments are so much inspiration and joy over here. :)

    3. Victorius on November 15, 2009 03:08

@Mr. Squirrel: I'm just glad to hear wonderful tunes such as from yourself and others. Even more if it's recognized in a completely different circumstance. Thank YOU for your inspiring sounds and humble creativity!

a song i made at the turn of the new year. it is really part of the beginning of the music i'm doing now. a healthy spring board i guess. has bits of "i wanna be myself" by the rimshots.
