The project was created in 1995 by Moscow musicians Arkady Martinenko and Boris Nazarov. In 1995-1997 the collective was playing concerts at experimental «Substation» radio. These lives provided background for the first album «Surround Wednesday». At the same time MGI started giving concerts in Russia and abroad; it took part in festivals «Kazantip» (Crimea), «Subtropique» (Georgia). In 1999 MGI second album «Pizza» was issued. The basis of the release is funk with elements of drum-n-base and trip-hop.
In 2000 MGI released its third album «Commercial» and filmed 6 video clips that were rotated on MTV Russia, Muz-TV, Musiс box, A one and o2Tv channels. In 2002 MGI new album «Tangibility» appeared. Such well known labels as Netlmage Foundation and MPLS. Ltd released vinyl singles from the album. The fifth album of the project «Les etoiles sont plus proches avec les yeux fermes» was released in 2005.
Several times during the latest years MGI became finalist of Qwartz Electronic Music Awards. MGI tracks are included to music compilations, issued by such record companies as Pork recordings, George V, Les Maquis, Pschent.
Since 2008 MGI consists of Boris Nazarov, Yuri Shulgin and Pavel Khotin. Now the project is recording its sixth album.
