About
Mosart212 has been dj’ing for over 14 years. He started off clearing the dance floors at the end of house parties and through the years he has picked up some skills, and as a result graduated to bigger and better venues. He recently ended a residency at Boston’s infamous Enormous Room (enormous.tv). He is the host of the podcast Symphony Sessions(http://brooklynradio.com/symphony-sessions/) on BrooklynRadio.com, as well as one half of the world famous mixtape duo La MoDa Mixtapes (http://lamodamixtapes.blogspot.com). He has dj’ed in NYC, Boston, DC, Cleveland, San Fran, Seattle, and Rochester NY of all places! International crowds have caught him in Nairobi, Amsterdam, and the Dominican Republic. Ask him to tell you the crazy story about one night he dj’ed in Amsterdam...which involves a shirtless guy with an apron giving out straight-razor shaves, a mountain of cocaine, and a badly dubbed Dennis Hopper movie he has not seen or heard of since that night. His sets feature breaks, funk, and rare finds from far corner of the globe. Sit back with your favorite coping mechanism and enjoy….Like that OTHER composer with a similar name (but without the syphillis), Mosart212 (aka Maria JoséButter, aka Boston Blackie) is a prolific creator of bad-ass funky symphonies for the post-modern era. While he’s a DJ’s DJ, he’s also so much more: composer, rabblerouser, crate-digger, beatsmith, Baseball Fury, teacher, curator, writer, bargain-hunter, philosopher, boogaloo shrimp, hep cat, and all-around artiste. One week you might get a downtempo pastiche of blunted sounds and lonesome beats, the next you might hear a set full of early proto-house and handclapping, footstomping nu-disco and boogie music. Mosart212 will go there. Anywhere. Anytime.
