"Sometimes you get the feeling the week has too many Mondays. In that case, we need to reduce them by any means necessary." A wise woman once spoke these words and she is right in every sense. Luckily however, spring has arrived; the birds are singing, the days are growing longer and subsequently the number of Mondays are steadily decreasing.
And if that's not enough for you, there's more good news: the darlings in FM Belfast are inviting you to dance with their newest single, 'Stripes'! Because stripes never go out of style—as the breton sailor shirts prove—and it is never a better time for sailor shirts than in the springtime.
"Stripes" is a single from FM Belfast's album 'Don't Want To Sleep', released by German label Morr Music last year. Árni Rúnar Hlöðversson produced the record, but the song was recorded in the shed behind Árni and singer Lóa Hlín Hjálmtýsdóttir's apartment in Reykjavík. Many undoubtedly remember the shed from Árni Sveinsson's music documentary Backyard, where it played one of the lead roles, even serving as the concert stage itself by the film's end.
Word on the street is that hips have never been shaken as recklessly or as dangerously as when the song's recording took place. Innocent pedestrians walking unsuspectingly by the infamous shed were suddenly seen shimmying away uncontrollably.
But now is not the time to worry, quite the opposite. The future is quite literally warm and bright, and if you're ready to shake your hips, you can no doubt sport, and earn, your 'Stripes'.
