Mooli are an electronica band based in kent, England comprising of singer Kristina Smith and musician/ Producer Ben Copland.
Their sound, described by one reviewer as a cross between Florence and the machine and the Human League, covers a range of Electronic music styles ranging from EDM to synth- pop and chill-out.
To date the band appear on 29 International compilations ranging from Universal Music’s ‘ Street Nation’ to Ministry of sound
‘ Judgement sundays’, and the chill-out albums ‘Cafe buddha’
‘ Chris coco’s Electracoustic’ and ‘Hotel Buddha’ amongst many others. In addition, the band have had two top 5 club records in the Uk with the tracks ‘ San Francisco rain’ and ‘ Wasted’.
Live the band have played BBC Studio sessions for Tom Robinson on BBC Radio 6, BBC Introducing at Wychwood Festival, Islington o2, Small Nations Festival, and recently headlined the sold out Pizza Express Live as part of Maidstone Fringe Festival.
Mooli have been making a bit of a name for themselves as remixers- recently, radically reworking singles by UK guitar bands Guillemots and Everything Everything. The band also make an appearance on Universal Music’s TV advertised album ‘ Street nation’ alongside Lady Ga Ga, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Amy winehouse and Akon.
Founder member Ben Copland has written produced and performed for a range of major International acts including Soul singer Beverley Knight, Liberty X, and Eternal. He has also written singles for X factor, Aaron carter, and German Idol runner up Mike Leon, scoring songs on 2 US billboard top 10 albums, one of which went platinum with over 1 million sales.
Those who have heard songs from the new album have described it as a giant leap forward from debut album ‘ Concubine’ and the ‘one Design EP’ , with more uptempo, multi layered songs. The singles
‘ Frozen‘ and ‘ on my way home’ the latter a collaboration with Belgian DJ Mac Monroe are out now. The band are currently putting the finishing touches to new album’ Dream Chasing’
