Gaborone, Botswana. In the middle of 1996,10 years old, influenced by mainstream media and ‘popular’ music, I started creating my first songs. My grandfather’s Yamaha PSR (1??) home keyboard, an entry level (Very generic) dynamic microphone I got for my birthday, a tiny Phillips cassette/fm tuner single speaker boombox I got for Christmas and my mom’s Kenwood 4 piece Hi-Fi with speakers rivaling my 10 year old stature. Mother is a qualified construction engineer and received her degree from the University of Florida, and with hindsight, I guess, it makes sense how I had the mind to tinker with these four contraptions and discover a way to overdub my voice. My childhood quest for overdubbing began when I would listen to the likes of Michael Jackson and be bemused at hearing his voice layered on top of each other simultaneously. I started recording songs then straight to tape, horrible as they were :D. In '99, I discovered a small drumming program called Hammerhead Rhythm Station. This began my love affair with Digital, one which hasn't let to date. Since then, I've been on my yellow brick road and thank you for sharing it with me, even if only for a moment :D.
Lmao, found a link to hammerhead : for all fellow vintage vst/standalone sleuths ;) http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/HammerHead_Rhythm_Station/ ;
