Born and raised in Brooklyn during house music’s golden age in the late 80’s, Modesta was exposed to a steady stream of influential freestyle and club records thanks to her mother, falling in love with locked-in grooves and bass at an early age. Since relocating to Philly from Brooklyn in 2007, Modesta has established herself as an active member of the City of Brotherly Love’s diverse electronic music community, helping to organize and promote events, all while performing alongside some of the scene’s leading lights. Taking cues from such labels as Cadenza and Perlon, she’s managed to set herself apart with a heady sound that merges cutting edge techno, house and more experimental wares, all mixed with a decidedly Latin flair. The end result is a deeply emotive flow of rhythm and sound that never fails to move the floor, while retaining an undeniably feminine touch.
