Marcus Johnson is a Billboard-ranked, NAACP Image Award-nominated jazz musician, from Washington, DC.
Johnson’s unique, self-taught style of piano play, has earned him distinction among his peers, praise within the media, and accolades across the music industry.
Over the last decade, the self-starting Johnson has released 15 studio albums – all of which have been met with critical and commercial success – while overseeing the expansion of burgioning entrepreneurial empire.
Poetically Justified showcases several guest appearances from some of Johnson's musician friends. Smooth jazz vocalist Maysa has triumphed in a new category at the Soul Train Music Awards, which was held on Tuesday, November 3. Maysa earned her win in the Soul Approved/Underground category. Maysa's latest CD projects "Poetically Justified" (with Marcus Johnson) and "Metamorphosis" feature smooth jazz stars Najee and Nick Colionne. Maysa's sultry sounds can be heard with the U.K.-based group Incognito. In November, Maysa will join Colionne on a special holiday tour, Nick Colionnes Cool Yule Christmas.
The Soul Train Music Awards ceremony was broadcast on the BET and Centric networks.
