one guy, a guitar and a MacBook full of old blues, new beats and funky samples
Forget the past. It's dead, and so is the way you used to think about blues. miX&dorp blasts new life into the style by blending modern beats and blasts from the future into existing tracks for a fresh sound that makes the rhythmic heart of the blues beat stronger than ever.
BLUES always had a strong BEAT and was intended to get people to dance. Unfortunately it has grown into something different and the 'gatekeepers of the blues tradition' try to keep exactly like that. This conservative attitude is probably the reason you hardly see anybody under 50 at a blues concert nowadays. The blues used to be party music; now it can be played again at the hippest modern parties, festival and clubs ..…. and still feel down home.
The ‘live form’ of this project can best be described as a 2011-One-Man-Band; It’s ideal for places where people want to dance to some good music but also as support act, change over at festivals, after parties, lounge settings etc.
In August 2011 miX&dorp performed at FESTIVAL DRANOUTER in Belgium and five nights in a row at the Blues Stage of the famous SZIGET FESTIVAL in Budapest (Hungary).
in March 2011 Black and Tan Records released miX&dorp’s first record; BLUES + BEAT, a collection of remixes, reinventions and rejuvenations.
