About
Inspired by the late 80's & early 90's reggae toasters of JA & NYC, the versatile raggamuffin vocal stylee of MISTA CHATMAN continues to boom loud & clear to the global music community worldwide. Formerly known as DJ Collage, his vocal performances have been featured on releases by DJ/Rupture, MachineDrum, Filastine, Poirier, Meat Beat Manifesto, Delhi2Dublin & many more. He has also performed alongside many top names in the reggae world such as Nicodemus, Yellowman, Collie Buddz, Sly & Robbie, Mad Professor, Easy Star All-Stars and many more. With his vocal collaborations & performances, he has had the ability to fuse his dancehall vocal chat with various forms of music like Dubstep, HipHop, Bhangra, Electronica, Dub & straight up Reggae dancehall. In fact, late last year he released the “Pon Di Version” EP which featured him chatting over straight Jamaican dancehall riddims which reconnected him with his roots in the reggae community. These days Mista Chatman can be found performing regularly at west coast spots like Ting reggae party in VanCity/BC, Non Stop Bhangra & Dub Mission in SF and his own Seattle based- JAM JAM Monday nite reggae party. And over the past couple years his vibes have been reaching over to the east coast by way of performances with NYC based artists such as Subatomic Sound System, Dr. Israel, Super Hi-Fi & others.
