About

Zany power-pop, rock, and folk that "feels like a fun house party on a summer night" (Lipstick Indie)

Mip's songs project her enthusiasm for life. Her lyrics are smart, her songs are colourful, and her performances are dynamic. Since releasing her debut EP Caught in Between Mip is finding an audience across Canada that describes her music as “fun, fast and filled with high energy that is infectious to the listener.”

Though Mip's musical career is blossoming in Toronto ON her roots are still firmly planted in her hometown of Smithers BC. The transition between such different places lends credit to her brand of neo-retro rock and roll which embodies the spirit of vintage rock with the heart and soul of an eccentric minstrel. Mip's musical style can be described as “catchy modern folk rock” while her lyrics draw inspiration from the stories of others or her own experiences. As such, subjects vary from working retail to getting busted for busking.

Mip's most current project is the Toronto-based Mip Power Trio (Mip, Greg Kowalczyk, and Shane MacPherson) which has played numerous locations in Ontario and has completed a successful tour in BC. In less than a year of existence the trio was invited to showcase at NXNE 2011 and headline at the Smithers Midsummer Music Festival 2011. In fall of 2011 the Mip Power Trio participated in a performance art piece at Scotiabank Nuit Blanche.

Artists that Mip has had the honour of sharing the stage with include 2 time Juno Award winner Alex Cuba and Rachelle van Zanten (formerly of Painting Daisies), whom she recorded and toured vocal harmonies with in New York, British Columbia and Ontario. During the Midsummer Festival 2011 she was also endorsed by her childhood hero Rick Scott.
