Miki's first solo album of Zoltan Kodaly's Piano Works will be released in September 2011.

Born in Tokyo, Miki Aoki made her orchestral debut at the Royal Festival Hall in London with National Symphony Orchestra at the age of 12. A dedicated recitalist and chamber musician, Miki has since performed regularly across Europe, USA and in Asia.
Recent engagement include a tour through South East Asia, appearance at Menuhin Festival in Gstaad with a Russian violinist Andrey Baranov, invitation to Great Lakes Chamber music festival in USA and Valdres Festival in Norway. Future seasons include concerto performance with Washington Sinfonietta (USA), solo recital in Tokyo and concerts in Austria, Germany, Norway, Turkey and Switzerland.

Miki Aoki appeared on the stages of such prestigious venues as St. Martin-in-the Fields, St. John’s Smith Square, Royal Festival Hall and Purcell Room at South Bank Centre, Barbican centre (U.K.), Laeizhalle, Mozart-Saal, Barlach Haus, Bechstein Haus (Germany), Musicasa Tokyo, Wiener-Saal Salzburg, as well as in festivals Mecklenburg-Vorpommen, Salzburger Festspiele, Rheingau, Otzberger Sommerkonzerte (Germany), Menuhin Festival (Switzerland), Beaulieu-sur-la Mer (France), Tembi Festival (Inodnesia), Phnom Penh International Music festival (Cambodia) and International Classical Music Festival. (Myanmar). In 2006 Miki was invited by Itzhak Perlman to his Chamber music festival in Long Island, USA.

Miki has appeared as a soloist with National Symphony, London Soloist Chamber Orchestra, Hamburg Camerata and Washington Sinfonietta.
Her solo and chamber music performances have been broadcasted on NDR-North German Radio, Radio Suisse Romande and Hessicher Rundfunk.

Recipient of numerous prizes and awards, Miki won prizes in IBLA Grand Prize (also Debussy Special Prize) (Italy), Elise-Meyer (Germany), CSTMA Young Artist Competition (U.S.A.), Faculty Honors Award and concerto competition at Indiana University, E. B. Storrs Piano Scholarship, (CT/U.S.A.) St. Albans Music competition, Harrow Young Musicians Award, (UK) and was semi-finalist at the Concert Artist Guild Auditions in New York. She participated in Perlman Chamber music workshop, Texas Cliburn Piano Institute, Banff, International Musicians Seminar Prussia Cove, Chopin-Gorecki Festival in Poland, Pro-Quartet Paris and played in master classes for Karl-Heinz Kaemmerling, Leon Fleisher, Claude Frank, Peter Frankl, Pascal Devoyon, Bruno Canino, Kim Kashkashian, Donald and Vivian Weilerstein, Paul Katz, Ferenc Rados, Gyorgy Kurtag among many others.

Much sought after accompanist, Miki receives invitations regularly for masterclassses and competitions. Since 2007 Miki plays every summer at the Mozarteum Summer Academy in Salzburg and in April 2009 was invited to play for the violin master class at Kronberg Academy in Germany. Miki has played for master classes of Pierre Amoyal, Kolja Blacher, Mauricio Fuks, Gidon Kremer, Dora Schwarzberg, Christian Tetzlaff, and Donald Weilerstein. Previously Miki played in university classes for Franco Guli, Mauricio Fuks, Eric Friedman, Janos Starker and Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi. Between 2005-2008 she was a class pianist for Kolja Blacher at Hochschule fuer Musik und Theater Hamburg.

In 2006 Miki met the legendary violinist Pierre Amoyal who gave her opportunities to collaborate with him in recitals and has taken her across the world. Since 2007 Miki is the class accompanist for Pierre Amoyal at the Conservatoire de Lausanne.

Miki collaborates with Pierre Amoyal, Francois Salque, Elisabeth Vidal, Kuss Quartet, Ariel Quartet, members of prestigious orchestras such as Gewandhaus Leipzig, Munich Philharmonic, Bayerische Rundfunk Orchestra, Tornhalle Zuerich and Orchestre de la Radio Suisse Romande.

From 2006-2008 Miki was selected by Y. Menuhin-Live Music Now-an extensive organization in Germany providing classical concerts in hospitals, prisons and retirement homes. With her duo-partner, Miki gave number of concerts and was selected to play as one of three ensembles at the Menuhin gala concert in Hamburg.


Miki started playing the piano at age 4 and moved to London at age 9 where she joined the Purcell School of Music. She holds degrees from Indiana University and Yale University. In 2007 Miki completed Konzertexamen degree at Hochschule fuer Musik und Theater Hamburg with distinction. (Mit Auszeichnung). Her teachers include Roshan Magub, James Gibb, Reiko Neriki, György Sebök, Boris Berman and Evgeni Koroliov.
