That clavicembalo MUST be musical humour! Hurrah, it finally exists!!-, and not only that, i hear frogs jumping in a pond later on - the english countryside in all it's splendid earthiness in a, uhm, dance track... the only thing lacking is the beer, mate, cheers!

    2. Mike Monday on October 31, 2008 22:41

@Zuckermann: yes indeedy - music without humour in places is like life without humour - boooooooooooooooooring!!! :)

    3. Zuckermann on October 31, 2008 22:52

@Mike Monday: Shouldn't we forget to mention, that it must have been you, who wrote the "The Persuaders!" score then?_) Man, I still can't get over that harpsichord sound... and those snippets of a certain Michael Nyman thrown in ;-)

    4. Mike Monday on October 31, 2008 23:13

@Zuckermann: Haha - I wish!!! No no Michael Nyman - although if I'd have thought of it then maybe... :)

    5. Zuckermann on October 31, 2008 23:32

@Mike Monday: i just flipped through your album sampler. nice approach man, going a bit baroque here and there (basson)/ hints of a basso continuo, then mixing that with cheesy 60ies TV-series sounds etc., quite cool, veeery english - and it still comes across as organically, in spite of this disparate reference/ sampling idea thing going on. did you study (classical) music or something? anyway, like your minimal prince track a lot too!

    6. Mike Monday on October 31, 2008 23:36

@Zuckermann: yes I did music at Oxford which was mainly classical. Actually it was totally classical!!! And VERY boring. Ironically if I hadn't done music there, I probably would be still involved ini classical music right now!!! That course completely killed it for me... :-(

    7. Mike Monday on October 31, 2008 23:37

@Zuckermann: Oh and I'm very interested to know - what exactly is it that makes it "very english"? Don't worry I'm not offended!!! :)

    8. Zuckermann on October 31, 2008 23:43

@Mike Monday: welcome in the club! i did music at hochschule der künste in berlin - tooootally bureaucratic. so i did my exams and left the "business". only to find myself a couple of years later in front of some undecipherabel sampler display ;-)

    9. Zuckermann on October 31, 2008 23:48

@Mike Monday: o, it's that certain sound mixture. makes me instantaneously think about nyman, the draughtsman's contract, its wigs, the atmospheric sounds in the final scene, then simon templar, a ford cortina in its racing trim in a 70ies UK setting. its all certainly not contemporary britain...

    10. Mike Monday on October 31, 2008 23:52

@Zuckermann: it seems that you now me too well!!! I studied Nyman at University and was a huge fan of The Saint - you got me!

    11. Zuckermann on October 31, 2008 23:56

@Mike Monday: music is a language - init?;-))) the saint was one of my favorites when i was a kid

    12. Zuckermann on October 31, 2008 23:59

@Mike Monday: ah, yeah, and too funny, it's only now of course that i can see where that bass in "what day is it" comes from. so much about getting you;-)

This track really took me back to the ambient of the 90's and really evoked the feelings of that time for me. Beautiful track and definately my favourite from the album with "Bad Wind(With a touh of Acid)" is a very close second. Love this whole album indeed great stuff mike! :)
