This cover version of David Bowie's The Man Who Sold The World is one of the very few recordings by my pre-Waterboys band THE RED AND THE BLACK.

    Vocals and guitars: Mick Puck
    Bass and sax: Steve Fraser
    Drums: Martin Saunders

    Recorded London, January 1982.

This takes me back. Love the sax. Probably Anto Thistlewaite?

Tremendous Mr. Puck. Very strange and mysterious arrangement. Ye should release some of this stuff (along with Another Pretty Face things). Cheers for that, Mike!

Brilliant version...although they have covered Prince (purple rain), Hank Williams (many), Van Morrison (too much pleasure and not enough space), this is up there with the best of them. An earthy, early, and enspired choice (forgive the spelling). Thanks Mike.

Not normally a covers person, but this one's a cracker!

The Big Music starts here. Guitars and sax working together on an epic scale. Great to hear this. Steve F promised me a copy of this years ago....but you know Steve......!

This is the wonderful type of primal music that I used to trawl the record fairs for "bootleg tapes" of when, in the late 80s, I started to collect Waterboys rarities.

Never found this one... but absolutely great, and Mike's voice at its rawest best!

      Thanks for sharing :-)

Great original given the unmistakable Scott treatment. Of course I love it - big fan!

thanks for the perspective Mike ....I can see how this fits right into your first Waterboys release....I love these post as it gives us a glimpse of your history and growth as an artist.
