About
Micah Vellian is the moniker of DC-based, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer, producer, and DJ Miguel Lacsamana. He is 1/3 of Volta Bureau (with Will Eastman and Outputmessage).
Coming from a family of musicians and artists, Lacsamana began his music career as a DJ and promoter of underground electronic events, in the late 90's at Virginia Tech, where he met future friend and production partner, Outputmessage.
After moving back to DC in 2003, Lacsamana briefly stepped away from electronic music and kept busy in several DC indie bands as a performer, writer and producer (Stamen & Pistils, Metropolitan, Person).
He later returned to electronic music in 2007, when he began collaborating with Outputmessage (Bernard Farley) under the name, Dmerit. Lacsamana also collaborated with Will Eastman as a co-producer and engineer on Eastman's debut Fatboy Slim-approved single, "Feelin" and their joint single "No Sleep" both on Plant Music.
In 2011, after years of collaboration, Lacsamana, Farley and Eastman formed Volta Bureau. Lacsamana's work on the group's breakaway single, "Alley Cat" has garnered them airplay on BBC Radio1 from Pete Tong, Annie Mac and Toddla T. "Alley Cat" not only held the number one spot on Beatport for 11 weeks, but it also held major support from A-Trak, Afrojack, Avicii, Mike Skinner (The Streets), The Magician, Martin Solveig and Moguai, as well as staying on heavy rotation at Sirius-XM. You can hear his body of work, under many guises, on Nurvous, Output Noise, Swedish Columbia and Plant Music.
