there have been a number of incarnations of melodywhore. the project began back in 2000 as a method for musician/remixer james reyna to explore using computer based music creation. using ACID like an old hardware sampler, the first melodywhore tracks were crafted using found sound and commercial loops. some time in 2001/2002, melodywhore joined the tapegerm collective and used/contributed loops and "one-shots". around the same time, a single was released on mp3.com with a number of remixes of the track "a brief moment," a track created using ACID with software synths and sequencers. a number of tracks have been written and recorded with different vocalists... some tracks updated with whatever vocalist was current. in or around 2004, melodywhore began working towards releasing a studio project involving collaborators around the world. in 07/08, melodywhore released some of this material on itunes and amazon through tunecore. he also won a remix competition held by invisible records for the song "everything" by pigface. in 09, melodywhore began working with on a new project filling the gaps, finishing and reworking old material and writing a bunch of newer material with a new vocalist. however two years and three albums worth of material later, the project never fully materialized due to personal reasons. now, in 2011, melodywhore is back to remixing and is currently working on four projects: the doctor, heavens fell, a project with DG likely to be called "spoils of war" and a "for real this time" melodywhore studio project.
