To ring in 2013, here is a wandering foray through a style I have long appreciated, dub. Like the whirling tones in the music itself, the influence of dub on contemporary dance music is one that echoes time and time again - enough so that the word "dubby" has taken on a meaning much broader than the genre from which it was born. Deep round bass tones, heady delays wrapping around each other, weaving a sonic tapestry that is sparse but complex. This mix starts from a more literal reggae influence, moving through techy pastures, ending in deep waters.
