Mcity SOLO is a gifted performer, songwriter, recording artist and motivational speaker. He was born Khalyil Rouse–Bakel on November 25, in Montreal, Canada. While still in high school he adopted the moniker “Mcity SOLO”, as his homage to his birthplace; Montreal. His style of music is an interesting mix of musical influences from The Black Eyed Peas to Jay-Z, along with the infusion of a distinctly Caribbean flavor (a tribute to his proud Trinidadian culture).
In 2005 after taking the advice of his business coach, Mcity SOLO & his brother and business partner, created “The Music With Meaning Tour” (www.musicwithmeaning.ca), a motivational school tour; that combines music with a motivational message. Over the last 5 years the venture has given Mcity SOLO credibility, media exposure and corporate affiliations. The tour has also enabled him to accomplish two important goals; perfecting his stage presence by giving him the opportunity to perform over 200 shows, while allowing him to express his passion as a community leader by having a much needed, positive impact on the lives of over 50,000 teenagers.
Also accredited to him, Mcity SOLO is the 1st Montreal Hip Hop artist to get a production deal with Akon’s Hitlab Records. He recently performed as a headliner for over 5000 guests along side Danny Fernandes, and Young Money Entertainment artist; “Jae Millz”, “Gudda Gudda” and “
