About
Gerard has been spinning decks since the young age of 14. Over the past decade he has progressed from an undying love of Trance into a lust for groove hypnotic styled Tech House. His first break came back in 2004 where it saw him live out his dream and grab his first gig. At this time, he excelled quickly on the Dublin Trance circuit managing to run his own night titled “Ascent” and “The Trance Sessions” which featured the likes of local heroes and international talent, such as Bryan Kearney, John Gibbons, Al Redmond, Ciara Glynn and much more.
As time went by he felt restricted by boundaries in which Dublin and Ireland had to offer a young aspiring DJ. A result of this is that it gave him the motivation to take flight and head to Ibiza for the annual seasonal parties for the summer of 2009. In which he returned to play consecutively for the next three years. Here, he became the resident DJ for the Corner Bar of the West End, featuring in Club Tropis, Vodka Club, Viva & play2 for vicky devine's clubnight ultraviolet b2b and alongside shay farrel, showing that he can be adaptable and cater the needs of all trance lovers. During his stay here, he met England’s, Chaos Theory resident & promoter, Craig Alchemy Holmes. From this Gerard managed to secure himself a slot in EDEN along with the likes of Daniel Kandi, Leon Bolier & DJ Ange.
With Ibiza always on his cards fulfilling his trance needs, that being his base sound for the past decade. In 2009 onwards, Gerard decided to take a new route as a DJ and found a love with a new groove, compiling Deep, Tech & slower based Progressive House tracks. In which he honed his skills, turning it into a successful monthly podcast series: “Lagoon” .This series is his trademark sound and is enjoyed by all.. Although Gerard focuses a lot of his time and energy towards this new concept, he still remains active within the trance culture, showcasing with his monthly trance mixes Blueprints that were & are now making a comeback in 2013. and his b2b mixes with Domestic Disturbance which is Gerard and Angie Mulroy. Like his Lagoon series, these mixes were recognised from a wide European & Global audience in 2012 and will continue to do so in the coming years.
Currently Gerard has found himself a new Residency and is back on the circuit in Dublin, but with a new direction from when he first stepped up to the decks all those years ago. Gerard is now a Resident DJ for TWIN in The Twisted Pepper, whom have played host to the likes of techno hard hitters Luke Creed and Kapoor. This night was the concept of a long time life friend and founder Brian O’Neill, whom is a firm believer in Gerard’s abilities. At the moment, it runs as a monthly night with the aims of becoming more frequent as they grow naturally, building a loyal following and fan base, tapping into all styles of electronic music in Dublin. During his time with TWIN over the last few months, Gerard has featured on line ups in what is recognised as Ireland leading club at the forefront of electronic music, along with local “Vs” themed nights. He’s been proving grounds with some of Dublin’s finest, these opportunities can only mean nothing but good things as it creates a stage for him to truly show people his love and talent with music.
The next step for Gerard is focusing on his own productions, be it his newly found sound or that of Trance. It is safe to say he is a man of many talents and excels wherever he put his interest to. As Gerard continues to grow as a DJ along with his new found Residency with TWIN. You will be sure to see more of him in the coming years as a big contributor to the scene locally and one day around the world.
