About
Juan Pablo Maturana, a.k.a Aphonic was born in 1988 in Mexico. He discovered music through his father. Jean Michel-Jarre, Pink Floyd were childhood favorites. As a teen he used to play drums on a Psychedelic Rock Band experimenting with sounds, it was not until his late teenage years he discovered electronic music, to wich he was immediately attracted to and was completely blown away by the energy and the originality of the sounds being used. It was so new and fresh to him as a musician that he needed to figure out how this music was made, so he quit the band and began collecting drum machines and synths. After having finished high schoolhe decided to study music production atLondon’s Point Blank Music School. He lived one year in London, being influenced by the scene and great clubs such as Fabric, he trulyexperienced electronic music. Maturana uses his productions to explore percussive elements, dubby basslines. Maturana aims to transmit instantaneous human emotions through electronic sounds. He is currently planning to expand his musical creativity to Field Recording.
