Matty Graham is a 22 year old producer. He was raised in a small town in Northern Ireland called Bangor. At the age of 6 he started playing his first ever musical instrumental, a clarinet. Matty played in various bands locally and then at the age of 14 he managed to obtain a keyboard as a christmas present from his parents. This began Matty’s thriving passion for a larger variety of music.

At the age of 16 Matthew took up music production. He experimented with various production techniques and tried to learn as much he could off the internet and listening to tracks that he aspired to make one day. At the age of 18 Matty secured a place on a Music degree after a successful audition at the University of Ulster’s Magee campus. Matty got the opportunity to study performance, harmony, studio techniques, music production, interactive music systems, improvisation, and musicology. In 2012 Matty graduated with a 1st class honours.

At the same time as studying at university Matty was taking music production very seriously and now creating his own unique sound. As well as making original beats for local artists Matty focused on remixes. In Arpil 2012 Matty won the Coca-Cola “Move to the beat” competition in which his winning remix of Mark Ronson and Katy B’s track “Anywhere in the world” secured him £4000 of studio equipment and continued airplay on Northern Irelands largest radio station Cool FM.

In October 2012 Matty was contacted by Sony Music informing him that he had won the Leona Lewis remix competition of new single “Trouble”. Matty received £1000, a Skype call with Leona Lewis, and the track was released as a bundle with the original on Leona’s online store. This was a world wide competition with thousands of entries. Fraser T Smith who judged the competition with Leona Lewis both loved the track and said to Matty “we picked your remix outright”. Fraser T Smith is responsible for tracks such as Adele’s “Set fire to the rain”, James Morrison’s “Broken Strings” and Taio Cruz’s “Break Your Heart”. He has also produced for Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, Keane, Cee-Lo Green and Ellie Goulding. Getting recognition from such names in the music industry as Fraser T Smith and Leona Lewis was inspirational for Matty. Since winning the competition for Leona Lewis the track has had well over 6000 listens on SoundCloud in just 1 week!

Matty continues to produce and remix tracks on a daily basis and is constantly developing himself as a versatile producer. 2013 looks to be a very promising year for Matty Graham.
