generative sound installation (MAX/MSP and six-channel dispersion)

This piece was created during a residency at the Goldwell Open Air Museum in the foothills of Death Valley, and built from recorded sounds and found materials collected at the Rhyolite, NV ghost town, as well as the surrounding ruins left by generations of strip mining operations.

The music is generated by wind patterns recorded at the Goldwell barn. Using a MAX/MSP-based analysis patch, field recordings collected from the desert are arranged/recycled based on the movement, strength, and timbre of the wind.
