About
Matthew Rivoir grew up in New Jersey. His music encompasses aspects of House, Tech House, Techno, Tribal, Minimal, and Deep House. Heavily Influenced by local NYC resident DJ's, he will always have a love for the gritty, underground New York house sound. Combining this with his appreciation for music from artists around the world, Matthew's sound is not only appealing in the Tri-State area, but internationally.
Matthew, like most DJ's, has had a deep love of music since childhood. Keeping an open mind toward the art form, he has appreciation for a large variety of musical genres. Influenced at a young age by his older brother, he grew up listening to everything from Blues to Rock to Reggae and Hip Hop. For most of his teenage years, Hip Hop was his true love. As he grew older, he eventually had the chance to experience the New York club scene and it didn't take long for him to fall in love with house music.
Over the years, he explored various forms of house music, immersing himself in the local underground house music scene. Constantly yearning to learn more about the genre, he began exploring new artists and styles. He eventually borrowed a friend's DJ software to start mixing his own tracks and just kept going from there. Influenced heavily by the likes of Victor Calderone, Boris, and Chriss Vargas, the distinct, gritty, drum-heavy New York sound has found a permanent place in Matthew's music. Expanding his horizons outward from there, artists like Gary Beck, Nicole Moudaber, Loco Dice, Carlo Lio, Dubfire, Adam Beyer, Slam, and many, many others have left a lasting impression upon his sound.
Matthew's career as a DJ has just gotten started, with a local Friday night residency at Affaire NYC along with other local gigs. Combining his love and passion for the artform with an ear for the music that the people crave, he is sure to rise from here, leaving his followers with the sort of lasting impression that was left upon him.
