About
Martin was a bit of late comer on the dance scene having only gone to his first rave at the age of 22. His first taste of electronic beats pumping in a dark room until the early hours of the morning came at Gatecrasher in Sheffield. It was here that Martin began to understand what dance music was all about. The atmosphere he witnessed was something he wanted to be a part of more frequently.
After continuing to venture to trance nights Martin started to listen to different genres and quickly found himself indulging more and more into techno and tech house. It was this music that got Martin into DJing for himself.
Starting off with a humble copy of Virtual DJ and a desktop PC, Martin started playing around with mixing beats. Quickly realising a keyboard was not enough Martin purchased a midi controller and started to produce mixes. He learned a lot over the next year but as his popularity grew he moved on to Traktor Pro and invested in an Allen and Heath mixer.
After becoming a regular on the DJ Mag forums Martin realised that his mixes were being well received and he decided to start DJing out and about. From the DJ Mag contacts Martin got bookings for London events and recalls playing Public Life as one of the best gigs he has done. Playing behind the decks as the same people as Chris Liebing and other techno legends certainly brought a smile to his face. Martin has also played gigs in Manchester and Leeds but he is open to playing anywhere, any time.
In March 2009 Martin won the DJ Mag Pick N Mix competition and he had his winning mix aired on Kiss FM. Later on that year he also received very positive comments about his debut track 'LessIsBest' - "The EQing on this track is excellent, and the result is tight bass, lots of space on the mix, and an overall loveliness".
Martin now plays a mix of tech house, techno and deep house but he does not like to be pigeonholed and he will play anything with a groove that will get the dance floor moving. He loves to interact with the crowd and he loves to play music until the last man is standing.
