About
Candidly addressing personal relationships, rectifying sensuality, and sustaining sarcastic humorous beliefs, Marteen Lu appears to acknowledge and expose another side of music (which is not always linked to negativity). His music and performance can be disturbing, melancholy and even childishly playful, but one thing for sure, it is always thoughtfully provoking. Using piano as his musical identity, he will deliver the mixture of idiosyncrasy and common knowledge of decency through the course of any musical journey.
When he was in high school, Marteen continued developing his musical talent by actively performing in cafes and school shows. After graduated at somewhere out there, he returned to Jakarta; he felt that people’s minds were starting to think in terms of categories, especially in music.
His music is mainly influenced by Oldschool–Breakbeat, House, Jazz, Nu Jazz, Ambient, Funk & Soul.
Gilles Peterson, Hajime Yoshizawa, Freddie Joachim, "Little" Louie Vega, Richard Earnshaw, Reel People, Electric Wire Hustle, Osunlade, Karizma, Alex Barck & Jurgen of Jazzanova, Jacques Renault, Amp Fiddler, Toshio Matsuura, DJ Kaori, Masaya (Jazzy Sport Japan), Cro Magnon, Daz-I-Kue and Afronought (Bugz in the Attic), Jamiroquai, Marcos Valle, Shuya Okino, LEFTO, J.A.M., Tortured Soul, Electric Empire, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Root Soul, Darien, DJ Kon, Nik “Nippon” Weston, Seiji, Jazzamar, Shacho, Matzz, Cherub, and Thievery Corporation to name a few...
Today, he continually seeks to expand his abilities; he is currently working on @tokyolite as the music representative to be in charge of anything related to Tokyolite's form of strategic communications planning, public relations activities, and fanbase.
Offering you salty imaginations yet with the bitter sweets of life. Not to fill up the guts but simply to feed the eager to listen. Prepare to feel with ears, to listen with minds, to experience as a being.
At school they said my obsession for music may have a detrimental effect on my future.
Well, you can’t always believe what people say.
