What does it sound like when you mangle the sound of a florescent light being switched on with granular syntheis? "Emits a Photon" is the answer - a free granular synthesis patch for Camel Audio Alchemy. This sample was recorded in my dorm at Electro-Music 2010 Festival. You can download this patch at http://patchlab.modulatethis.com.

@JAnderson: I have Absynth as well, and you can do similar types of sound design with it. I'd say the Alchemy is MUCH easier to use as the UI is very straight forward when compared to Absynth.

Wow Mark, I do not know much about the Alchemy synth (on my list of ware to investigate, but what you have done here will provide some lucky user a wealth of creative SFX. The examples hits here sound like some kind of Sci-Fi cinematic backgrounds. I am constantly impressed by what possibilities granular synthesis can provide a sound designer! I have Absynth5. I suppose this comes closest to the Alchemy in this regard. Great patch.

@c.db.sn: Thanks! The nice thing about alchemy is there are alot of presets and a "performance" mode so you can start using it as an "instrument" first then dig into sound design.
