I first got hooked on wanting to make music by listening to music from the hip hop and hardcore scene and I got a chance to mess around with a program called music 2000 by code masters on the ps1 which was great fun but at the time it wasn’t exactly what I wanted to do so I tried my hand at the djing side of things having being inspired by dj’s such as qbert, jazzy jeff and the x-ecutioners and dj sy and I knew I wanted to be a turntableist and beat juggle and scratch like the pro’s and my idols. I first got a cheap pair of Stanton belt drive decks and a Gemini mixer with great curve control for scratching but the decks wasn’t up to the challenge so I saved up and got my self some cintronic pd2's and still use them to this day. The mixer has changed a few times but the decks have stood the test of time also I have sort of crossed to the dark side and tried my hand with the digital side of djing, so I purchased an m audio xponent and I have to say I love it, I have also got the m-audio connective. So that I still have the old skool feel of the vinyl sliding through my fingers although I have got to say i'm now also a bit of a controlerist
I started off with the korg pad kontrol and the m-audio oxygen 8v2 keyboard and both which I have to say is a great bit of kit but lacked faders that I needed and was use to so I got my self an m audio trigger finger and that’s also a solid controller for my needs although I found I like the hands on feel to creating tunes I now lack rotary knobs to assign to many different parameters so I invested in to an evolution x-sessions controller and loved it as it had all I needed and more so I got another as I found it works well in ableton. Although I had my eye on the akai apc 40 the smaller version was all I thought I needed with all the other bits of kit I soon found it the perfect controller for live but still felt I was missing something after a while I decided to bite the bullet and sell my ps3 with more than 75 games and step up and I bought my self maschine by native instruments. Over the years I have had loads of fun with different software’s on the pc such as ejay and majic music maker and many fruity loops editions which introduced me to the world of vsti’s and it made me realise that their was a whole range of sounds and products some of which are free and others which are quite costly but with my passion to further myself in the production business I tried my hand at many free and a few costly vst’s and daw’s and then I found out of all of the ones that I had tried I am addicted to ableton live 8, at this point I thought I would try my hand at remixing and found that it was almost as much fun as creating my own unique sounds and now I feel its time to take my production possibilities seriously from now on and share some of it with you.
