Hi, I'm Commonwealthgirrl:-)

LIFE IS IMPROV!

I'm busy trying to create wealth for the commons in the form of music!

I grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA where my love of music began. As a small child, my dad introduced me to music, recording studios, spinning records, and shiny silver microphones; a magical place I have wanted to live in ever since. As a kid, I played the flute. I sang in the school choir and made my own secret radio shows late at night.

As a young adult, I was drawn to the world of theater, started doing improv, and later I directed plays, and ran an amateur theater group. I am even giving writing crime fiction a try.

About 2 years ago, I was gladly pulled back to my real passion when I decided to take up private piano lessons. This gave me what I needed to develop my music as Commonwealthgirrl. Oh, and a pretty scary and painful divorce; the twister that brought me back to OZ and music...Have a listen to The D Word:-)

My songs are influenced by a mixture of Country, Jazz, Pop and Swing.

Some of my favorite artists include Daniel Lanois, Robyn, Johnny Cash, Tracey Chapman, K.D Lang, Roy Orbison, Mando Diao, Zachary Richard and Arcade Fire, and of course many of you soundclouders who have been supporting me this past year:-)

Working on my first EP - and have many interesting projects in the works, such as my rogue radio show called Leading Ladies...

I am very open to collaborating and open to any interesting propositions...
