The project Manki’n’Stieb is formed by Victor Bilegan and Catalin Alexandru and it is quite fresh. It approaches to the seventh year of official existence. Unofficially everything started with a common anger, which Victor and Catalin manifested at organized parties with friends ,and that consisted in monopolizing music. Hence came the competition... which inevitably leads to a constructive addition to both members. Further, the music style that annoyed their friends were abandoned and replaced with breakbeats and derivatives (d'n'b, garage, dubstep). Six years ago when they realized that homemade parties could be harmful for the house and neighbours and required some compromises, the conversion to certain categories of clubs in Bucharest (and not only), the non-conventional underground parties and festivals was inevitable. In 2010 they have been selected by Burn to represent Romania at the workshop 'Cassius masterclass', realized at Burn Studios in Paris, a good occasion to grab some secrets and methods to customize their 'sound', from the famous French duo.
The music style approached is essentially breakbeat, but it doesn't mean that they beware of funky breaks, garage, dubstep and d'n'b. They have mixed together with the biggest names in the genre: Beta, Mesmer, Karl Sav, Ctrl Z, Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kuts, Atomic Hooligan, Jay Cunning, Turtlesquad, Blanilla, Lebrosk plus many other big names that have been in the “business”of electronic music. What is their music about? Is about how you can find the resources to resist during the night. Why did they choose music as a way of expression? Because the music they create causes dopamine in excess and at certain times, it's more important people to be entertained than serious!
