Mental has become well known the last decade with his long lasting underground parties. started to play as a DJ at the junior disco in the 90´s. Hip hop, Punk, and rave Mental was born in 1982 in the capitol of Norway. His passion for melodic music and rhythms has been there since he popped out from the hospital. He started with a keyboard and a flute. He then made mix tapes with weird voices and which he tried to sell to random people when he was 8 years old. He also played the violin a couple of years in the school symphony. He also had an interesting concept called the 'music-telephone', he called random people from the phone catalogue and forced them to listen to music he played from his radio by holding the phone against the speaker. If they didn’t hang up after the song, he tried to charge them for money. He started djing early at the junior club, hes favorite vinyl was Jump Around and Outside World by Sunbeam .
From 1999 Techno and house invaded his vinyl collection. He started his first concept 'Vi Leker Ikke Klubb'(in english the concept name is: 'We are not being hypocritical about running a club') at Sikamikanico in 2004. The concept with the rather nifty name, became a massive success and made the dance floors packed each Wednesday. It didn’t take long before he got his residence at club Sikamikanico each weekend with another concept called 'Playmosika'. Then he started 'Torsdagskubben' every Thursday at the same club. Torsdagsklubben is now one of the hottest concepts in Oslo, Mental´s partner in crime -Christian Fisch is now the captain and has taken the concept to 'The Villa' with big success. Mental play at the finest clubs in Norway like The Villa, Sikamikanico, Skansen, Hausmania, Zuzy Wong, Bollywood Dancing, Skaugum, Blå, Baku and secret locations. With over 200 parties behind him, it can honestly be said that this man knows the ingredients of a sucsessfull night. Production vise he uses his laptop and Logic pro to compose his state of mind.
10 years behind the decks has given Mental the opportunity to work and play amongst big talents such as: Peace Division, Nigel Dawson, Funk D'void, Mike Monday, Dave Martin, Matt Tolfrey , Nils Noa, King Roc, G-HA, Ost & Kjeks, Diskjokke , Trulz & Robin and Man At Arms to mention a few.
Nowadays he works together with Higgins, Eric Small and Nolie at Small Management/Agency/Records/. Small management is all about pushing musical boundaries. Small Management are currently running the concept 'we love music' and the summer festival called 'Grooveyard', both that has had great success every time. Magne lives in Spain at the moment and is considered an important link to the Spanish electronic music scene.
