About

“My story may be familiar to many of you, but it still causes, even me to stop and reflect. My German father, a drum roadie for Kraftwerk, met my mother, Stevie Wonder’s eye wear consultant, on the packed and sweaty dance floor of Studio 54; they danced to the sounds of Donna Summer’s debut performance of “I Feel Love”. Their romance was filled with passion and partying, their occupations taking them to all areas of the fledgling dance music scene.

I was conceived in the toilets of the Paradise Garage as Larry Levan spun his extended reedit of “Love is the Message”. My early life was filled with movement and energy, you can catch a glimpse my pram in Pike’s Hotel Ibiza in the background of the “Club Tropicana” video. My childhood babysitter’s piano meandering went on to form the basis of “Strings of Life”.

My mother suggested the yellow and black colour scheme to the Hacienda, my father rewired the Aphex Twin’s first synth. A stoned cousin’s rambling about the desert became “Little Fluffy Clouds”. One day at home, playing around inflating condiments inspired some Belgian houseguests to “Pump up the Jam”. On my tenth birthday I was gifted the 303 that was used on “Acid Trax”, for my 12th 808, programming lessons from Jeff Mills. I never got any royalties from humming the melody to “Age of Love” to a rotund German man one day.

When I started to produce myself it came to me like a dream, my fingers danced on keys and my eyes communed with computer screens, machine’s sparked with energy when I was around, beats and rhythm just seemed to be a part of me. Time and space didn’t seem to matter; all was a mesh of beats, bass and melody.

But something started to irk me, I wondered where it would take me and would I want to be there, another part of nature started to take over, the need to ramble and explore…”
