gw2-halloween-2012
This is my first major musical contribution to Guild Wars 2. I felt like we needed a suitably Elfman-esque piece of music to go along with the Burton-esque vibe of the Halloween content.
The idea here is that the violin playing the main melody represents the Mad King (shades of Nero). The clarinet and oboe that also play the melody represent his various wives and subjects who get caught up in his madness.
If you're playing Guild Wars 2 during the week leading up to Halloween, keep your eyes peeled for a character called the Fake Mad King, who puts on a little show set to this music at various places in the world.
EDIT: Wow! The response to these has been amazing and overwhelming. My humble SoundCloud page has never seen this kind of traffic. The free account has a 100 download per track limit, which I've never come close to hitting, but both these tracks hit it incredibly fast. So, here's a link to high quality mp3s of both tracks. I'm really impressed with the theme! You captured that essence of mischief, fun, and spooky feelings of Halloween perfectly. I loved when woodwinds take over the melody, probably my favorite part :) The staccato strings really add to the overall feeling of this theme, and the light percussion helps tie everything together! Again, a job well done! :D
