DJ-producer LUPE is the master of disco poetry, hailing from the Netherlands.
Sets by Lupe are full of energetic house with melodic edges derived from disco.
His music speaks of the reversed beauty of nightly encounters, relationship games, psychedelica and sex. Firmly rooted in disco and early house, each track addresses a different chapter of nocturnal endeavours. Overall they form the ultimate collection of nightlife tales, not only perfect for the dance floor but also nice for an in-depth listen at home. His release Shake was applauded by deejays like Heidi, Azari & III and many others.
His background as a dj makes him the perfect eyewitness of the stories told. His music feels real and lived through, a delightful break from the clean studio/producer sound. This is amplified by Lupe’s eclectic taste and open mind. Both boys and girls from all genders and genres love to dance to his beats.
Lupe works without sampled melodies, all music is original. He also performs the vocals himself. His inspirations hail from all corners of the dance universe. Think early Madonna, housemasters DJ Pierre and Armando, electro heroes Miss Kitten and Tiga and more recent Hercules & Love Affair.
At the tender age of 12 Lupe discovered house music... A Christmas present, a record simply named 'Acid House'. Something took his body over and made him dance. His exploration of electronic dance styles began. Four years later… What's a 16 year old to do? Become a go-go dancer and get into parties for free!
Insatiably paying attention to the spinning records, artists and labels, he evolved from club kid to dance music connoisseur, party organizer and dj.
Wild music and lurid movies provided fantasy worlds… He graduated in film studies at the University of Amsterdam and collected music for years.
At age 25, Lupe decided to create fantasy worlds for others. He started deejaying, organising parties and making music.
As a DJ in his hometown Amsterdam, Lupe played in all major venues like at Paradiso, Trouw, Sugar Factory, Club Up and Studio 80 and at festivals such as 5DaysOff, Mysteryland, NOW&WOW and Dance Valley. Internationally he played at Exit Festival (Serbia), Dalston Superstore (London), Cookies (Berlin), The Hall (Istanbul) amongst many other venues.
He is a driving force behind UNK (2004 - 2012), a truly innovative dance party, which continuously introduced fresh genres to Amsterdam.
Together with buddies Tom Trago, San Proper and Martin Duvall he hosted Italo Elite (2009 - 2013), a glamorous night of Italo Disco.
He shared the stage with many international artists like Dj T, Erol Alkan, Shinedoe, Alden Tyrell and Booka Shade.
Lupe is also resident dj and spokesperson for the Pink Istanbul / Amsterdam exchange project.
He was nominated Best Newcomer DJ in 2004, Most Sexy dj in 2009 and his club night Italo Elite won the first of the infamous Dutch Golden Gnome Awards.
A few of the highlights of his spinning for a large audience in 2007 at ID&T’s Inner City as a headliner of Holland’s largest indoor festival, in 2009 at Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet Tour after party in the Heineken Music Hall.
In 2013 the ReLuped project is about re-edits… Lupe’s re-edit of Donna Summer's With Your Love prompted its producer Giorgio Moroder to write: "Hello, Lupe! I really like and appreciate your edit. It has a great beat. I am still listening."

Artist Statement:
I bring a new hybrid of electro, techno, house and disco to the dance floor.
I express through songs a new style for men and women, straight and gay, black and white, and so on.
I believe that there is nothing to be scared of in each other. Nightlife with dance music is the designated area to overcome our differences in daily life. Where we literally see each other in a different light, towards a better world. Therefore I consider it an honor and a privilege to work on parties and in music.
