LUPE’s vision as a dj-producer is to frenetically up the jack-factor on the dance floor. A new shape of male identity is emerging in dance, energetic and psychedelic: house with an attitude.
More than just jacking disco and house instrumentals, his music productions have lyrics and stories. Tales of nightly encounters, reversed beauty, sex and power games. Lupe calls it Disco Poetry: all original compositions, no sampled melodies and performing vocals himself. Real and lived-through is the sound, also for an in-depth listen at home.
Inspirations come from all corners of the dance universe: masters as DJ Pierre and Armando, electro heroes Miss Kitten and Tiga, early Madonna, Hercules & Love Affair.
His release Shake was applauded by deejays like Azari & III, Heidi and many others.
As a DJ, with an open mind for points of view from all genders and genres, he witnesses many happenings to be told through his music.
Lupe discovered house music at age 12 through a Christmas present: a record simply named 'Acid House'. The music took over his body, dancing was the only option.
His exploration of electronic dance styles began. Four years later he became a go-go dancer to get paid for partying. Insatiably learning about records, artists and labels, he evolved from club kid to dance music connoisseur, party organizer and dj.
He graduated Film Studies at the University of Amsterdam and collected dance music for years. At age 25, Lupe decided to create fantasy worlds for others. He started deejaying, organising parties and making music.
Lupe played all major venues in Amsterdam like Paradiso, Trouw, Sugar Factory, Club Up, Studio 80, 11, Amsterdam Roest, festivals such as 5DaysOff, Mysteryland, NOW&WOW, Dance Valley, ID&T’s Inner City and Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet Tour after party at Heineken Music Hall.
Internationally he played at Exit Festival (Serbia), Dalston Superstore (London), Cookies (Berlin), The Hall (Istanbul) amongst many other venues. He shared the stage with artists like DJ T, Erol Alkan, Shinedoe, Alden Tyrell, Tiga, Steffi, Heidi, Prosumer and Booka Shade.
He is a driving force behind UNK (2004 - 2012), an innovative party which continuously introduced fresh genres to Amsterdam, where he also hosted Italo Elite (2009 - 2013) with Tom Trago, San Proper and Martin Duvall. He is resident dj and spokesperson for the Pink Istanbul / Amsterdam exchange project.
At the infamous Dutch Golden Gnome Awards, his Italo Elite won Best Party (2010), nominations also for Best Newcomer DJ (2004) and Most Sexy dj (2009).
In 2013 he released the ReLuped re-edits. His re-edit of Donna Summer's With Your Love prompted its producer Giorgio Moroder to write: "Hello, Lupe! I really like and appreciate your edit. It has a great beat. I am still listening."
Ready to give a piece of his music mind and liberate the world: Lupe makes sets for wild nights. We dare you to take the Lupe trip.
I bring a new hybrid of electro, techno, house and disco to the dance floor.
I express through songs a new style for men and women, straight and gay, black and white, and so on.
I believe that there is nothing to be scared of in each other. Nightlife with dance music is the designated area to overcome our differences in daily life. Where we literally see each other in a different light, towards a better world. Therefore I consider it an honor and a privilege to work on parties and in music.
