Put Lucky Charmes behind any turntable at any given time and he will display just how a DJ should rock the crowd and what music is all about.
Lucky's sound is a strong mix of funky house, grooves, sexy latin, uplifting tech house sounds, massive beats, eclectic vibes and rough African drum sets. His music and his life show a strong resemblance: filled with diversity, highly dynamic and always up tempo… Meet DJ Lucky Charmes!

Born on the 16th of June 1979, Lucky grew up in an environment that had diversity written all over it. Coming from an Indonesian mother and a Surinam father Lucky was raised in a house that offered a range of music as wide as the smile on Mick Jagger’s face. Lucky’s first serious pursuit in music became reality when he decided to play the drums, something he had a clear talent for. This is where his love for rhythm and beats came to expression and later on turned out to be a solid basis for his future career as a DJ. At the age of 14 Lucky discovered his dad’s old turntables, dusted the bad boys off and started playing old school records up in the attic where he found them. This turned out to be the point in his life where his feel for music met the instrument he was born to play…

His itchy hands drove him to the turntables day after day and it would not take long before Lucky entered his first DJ battle contest. Ending up in the final at his very first contest and winning it as well, it was clear that a hobby had turned into a passion. Since Lucky clearly had the talent, the next step was to turn the passion into a career, something he kicked off by joining one of his friends at the hip-hop oriented radio show ‘The Soundcheck’. The Soundcheck was a great way for young talents to expose their skills to the world and Lucky was soon invited to join other shows and host showcases at big events like the ‘Megafestatie’. After that, Lucky gave workshops on Veronica television and worked as an IDP/DMC instructor (2002-2004) His affiliation with teaching others how to spin the wheels is something he still does up to this day in age at Studio West in Amsterdam (www.studiowest.nl)

His career as a club DJ blew up like almost every other aspect of DJ-ing did for him. Initially starting out as a hip-hop DJ he gradually found his way to the house/club scene. His reputation grew and after a few months Lucky played in all the renowned clubs in The Netherlands. Spinning in famous clubs like Now&Wow (Rotterdam), Jimmy Woo (Amsterdam) The Sand (Amsterdam) and Escape (Amsterdam) Lucky’s reputation was set. A logical consequence of his success as a club DJ was his first mix cd Supa Fly House Music, released in 2002. Many more were to follow. In no time he turned from a hobbyist into a respected DJ in the Dutch house/club scene. However, The Netherlands was not the only turf where Lucky’s sounds were well appreciated. With performances in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Turkey, Spain, Portugal and many other countries Lucky rocks clubs all over Europe.

Nevertheless, The Netherlands is still homebase to him. Nowadays Lucky can be found in countless line-ups next to big names like Dj Chuckie, Erick E, Gregor Salto, Sidney Samson, Roog, Benny Rodrigues and Don Diablo. In addition to all this Lucky is busy with his own labels: Get Lucky Recordings en Filthy House Music.

As a producer Lucky also knows how to stand his ground: Getcha Damn Hands Up (Sneakerz Muzik) which he produced with musical partner Tony Verdult, reached the nr. 1 position in the Dance Tunes chart and nr.8 in the beatport chart, received tremendous support from dj's like Bob Sinclar, Erick E, Fedde le Grand and Roger Sanchez. His following release So High (SamsoBeats), also a collaboration with Tony Verdult, also skyrocketed through the same chart and is heard frequently in DJ sets of Sidney Samson and Gregor Salto. Even a brand new one called Plain Dots has the full support of the legendary dj Axwell.

Also Lucky Charmes' hit Body Sweat initially got offered as a track for DJ Chuckie's Pacha Ibiza Anthems compilation, but it appealed that much that they decided to take it for a full release on Dirty Dutch Music. All kudos to Lucky for his job because this acknowledges the fact that he is riding with the big boys now!

Lucky also just signed new future releases on Sneakerz Music, N.E.W.S Recordings, Dirty Dutch Music & Selected Music. This last label asked Lucky personally to remix the new Robin S single "At My Best" (released in august 2009).

Next to this overwhelming production news there is also the expressive side of performing and that is just what Lucky does. Like a real performer he hits almost every club and is being ask to perform at the biggest party’s such as Sexy Mother Fucker, F*ckers, Samsobeats, Sneakerz, Latin Village and of course his own night Zu Hause at the famous Jimmy Woo club in Amsterdam, always crowded...bringing culture, art and Music together.

Also earlier mentioned SMF has asked Lucky to perform on a regular base for their party throughout the country, abroad and on the beach. This headliner filled party is a great platform where Lucky Charmes can perform on peak hours and give his fan base the musical night they are expecting!

It looks like Lucky Charmes is about to blow up even more in the years to come…
