Bleak mountain gospel in raw up bluesy style w/ bottleneck on resonator guitar + whistling and singing. Recorded in a single live take using the mic on my laptop, so the singing goes out of tune in couple places. I did this just to hear what the arrangement was like, then forgot about...- Too Utterly Too (Clog Dance) Artwork

A civil war tune I learned from The Drummer's and Fifers' Guide by Bruce and Emmet. This is basically coming from the reenactor scene. Played in an inaccurate slightly bluesy style on a 1930s reproduction of an 1890s parlor guitar. This will sound like classical with an earthy flavor. Mus... - Egyptian Fandango Artwork

The missing link between country and north african music. This is a colonial American fiddle tune which comes our way via an African-American player - maybe a 1st generation African captive living as a slave - and a Scottish tourist who wrote down what he heard and published it when he got home. ... Originally blogged at http://soupgreens.com/2008/06/10/centennial-grand-march/ This is a recording of an 1876 tune called “Centennial Grand March”. I like the chromatic melodies, the way the parts tell a story, and the mood. It’s a bit tricky, and when I first tried it on stage about a yea... - Carrie Waltz Artwork

A guitar instrumental called “Carrie Waltz” which was composed by a ordinary guy named D.E. Jannon and published in 1854. I learned it from sheet music at the Library of Congress web site. It's sweet and simple. Played on a 1928 Gibson L3, a steelstring archtop with a unique tone. - Willow Weep For Me Artwork

all about the vintage style -- shooting for a pre-rock electric sound w/ a '65 SG and a 40s National-Dobro 12W amp. Just a sparse instrumental in a low bluesy mood. don't get your hopes up for singing or two hand tapping or anything.
