About
a.k.a. PUMA BOX w/ Brandon Bass
a.k.a. Yuiitsu No Ko w/ Lucille
Louis Marr has a keen interest in all things tech funky. As a producer, the aim is to steer clear of defined genres and incorporate new ideas and fresh takes. Not wanting to be confined to the world of "dance" music, he's willing to venture in unknown directions. The outcome is typically a bit strange.
Along with his production and DJ work Louis founded Metro American in 2007 with the goal of bringing a more intimate vibe and unique sound to the Denver party scene. Since 07 Metro American has had the pleasure of hosting artists such as Three, Kate Simko, Jamie Jones, Damian Lazarus, Spirit Catcher, Pezzner, Habersham, Simon Baker, Gabriel Black, Rick Preston, Ame, Jay West and Tony Watson.
Along with partner Patrick Palone, the pair recently founded Plain Sound Recordings for the purpose of releasing quality house, techno, and abstract composition from independent musicians and composers. The label is mainly geared towards work of an electronic nature but will no doubt encompass many different genres and styles.
The fall of 2011 marked a return to the service industry, this time as the general manager of 2200 Denver. Tasked with getting the space back on track, Louis turned to some of the areas most prominent promoters and crews. Now hosting artists like Matthew Dear, Martin Landsky, Sinistarr, DJ T, Echospace, Lee Foss and Optiv, the redo definitely brought the spot back into the mix. A bit of minor remodel work, a completely new staff made up of knowledgeable dance music aficionados, a tidy up of the sound system, as well as the design & construction of an entirely new room within the club has once again given Denver an intimate space to gather, relax and dance.
