Piecing together bits of vintage soul, old-school R&B and 50's/60's pop, Old Tiger began playing music together regularly in 2009. That year, the guys (guitarist/singer Dustin Lothspeich, bassist Matt Phillips and drummer Eric Boone), began rehearsing a few songs inside an old San Diego house with a goal of channeling their collective musical influences into their own original material. A few months later, the band emerged with a solid collection of songs that were ready to be played live. In 2012, the band was approached by San Diego based producer Mike Butler with an offer to record their debut full-length album at the Lost Ark Studio. In mid-February, Old Tiger began their recording sessions and exactly one month later the album, “Love Have Mercy”, was released in 2012.
