Bart Cummings' 2010 return to recorded music was received with open arms by the global indiepop community. Held in high esteem as a craftsman of some of the most crushworthy bite-sized pop ever put to four-track tape, Bart emerged in the early-90s playing in Melbourne bands like The Cat's Miaow, Girl of the World, Hydroplane and Pencil Tin.
With the formation of Bart & Friends, Bart was afforded an opportunity to extend his scope and apply his winsome melodies and conversational lyrics to a broader group of friends from nearby and not so nearby. The 2010 album Make You Blush was celebrated as Bart's first recordings in a decade, and saw his songs perfectly augmented by his new band featuring members of The Lucksmiths and Mid-State Orange, as well as the peerless Pam Berry (Black Tambourine, The Pines, etc) on shared lead vocals.
Bart & Friends now follow up with the equally brilliant (if equally brisk) Stories With the Endings Changed. Louis Richter and Mark Monnone (The Lucksmiths, Mid-State Orange) are again on hand providing plenty of extra sugar, while Jeremy Cole (The Zebras) is added to the fold on drums and Scott Stevens (Summer Cats, Earthmen) enhances five tracks with his distinctive vocal éclat.
1) Who Am I to Say No
2) When I've Got No Choice
3) There's No Place I'd Rather Be
4) Rule the Day
5) Now I Think There's Something You Can Do For Me
6) Calling Out My Name
7) Cast of Half Forgotten Names
8) Tomorrow Will Be Better Than Today
9) Sound Of the Bells
