Promo track from Tenth Volume of Maps album — released Oct 7, 2011

Lost And Lonesome is delighted to announce the highly anticipated third album from Melbourne's experimental-classic-pop master-sculptor Francis Plagne. On his latest campaign, entitled Tenth Volume of Maps (released on vinyl LP on October 7), Plagne and his band create a sonically rich palette with a more focused live-in-the-studio feel than his earlier work, which relied heavily on field recordings and tape splicing.

Re-pledging his commitment to the song form with his snappiest album to date, Tenth Volume of Maps reasserts Plagne's fascination with the interplay of melody and rhythm, while also allowing the songs to unfold, develop, and mutate along unpredictable trajectories.

Personnel: Robbie Avenaim, Ned Collette, Samuel Dunscombe, Dale Gorfinkle, Judith Hamann, Connal Parsley, Anthony Pateras, James Rushford, Joe Talia and Kim Tan

"Plagne’s sound universe — informed by classic pop, loose-limbed free improvisation, and musique-concrete — is complex, arresting, and completely his own" – dB Magazine

"Loosely slots into a trajectory of experimental song/sound art crossover that stretches from Caetano Veloso’s ‘Araca Azul’ through to Broadcast" – The Wire
