About
We are Kent-based quartet combining traditional folk music with a wide range of orchestral and world influences to create a multilayered blend of melody and rhythm.
Many of our songs draw on our home county’s rich history and folklore, providing a modern soundtrack to traditional tales.
Our songs cover Kent’s blood-soaked beginnings as the battle ground of warring tribes, through haunted pubs on Oare Marsh to the sinister prison hulks moored off Sheerness and Chatham.
Our detailed compositions, including four-part harmonies, French horn and violin, and our unique subject matter has seen us win a growing fan base on the folk festival circuit in Kent and beyond.
As well as appearances at various folk festivals up and down the country, we have played main stage at Lounge on the Farm and Party in the Park, as well as performing at Endorse It in Dorset, Sellindge Music Festival and Lancaster Music Festival.
The band has been going since 2005, undergoing gradual metamorphosis from a young folk punk act to its current mature form. We are learning all the time, and this transformation has mirrored members’ musical development and changing interests.
Going fully acoustic in 2009, we now feel we are writing the best songs the band has ever produced, yet we’re always keen to keep challenging ourselves.
Our music has been played on BBC Radio 1 and Radio 6 as well as many folk stations nationwide.
