Here is my Bio:
Informed by a continuum of rhythm driven music stretching from the Rare Groove records of the 70s/80s to the future proofed Bass music of the now, since embarking on a life in music in 1997, LRD JXN (Lord Jackson) has explored the sound worlds of Techno, House, Hip-Hop, IDM, Soul/Funk and beyond.
Hailing from the UK by way of Australia, he now resides in Wellington, New Zealand. Along the way LRD JXN has honed his skills as a DJ, producer, studio operator, mastering engineer and production tutor. Triangulating his DJ experience, studio skills and knowledge, he expresses himself musically through his own low slung takes on forward looking Techno, Digital Soul and Bass Music. Compositionally, LRD JXN's songs, while futurist, also pay homage to his favourite elements of the past, be it the blippy 8-bit melodies of classic video gaming, 808 drums, or wormy spiralling synthesiser lines.
Over recent years, a series of compilation placements and remixes for American beat makers lead him to the release of his first EP Wuja Wuja Wah on Dublin based label !Kaboogie, resulting in an increased degree of international visibility.
Since arriving in Wellington, LRD JXN has collaborated with New Zealand artists Benny Tones, Taay Ninh, Samu, Morning Steppa, Boofa, Adi Dick and Lisa Preston (LP) and Si Rez. For the last two years he has hosted a monthly DJ residency at legendary Wellington bar The Matterhorn and has recently started a Weekly residency with Taay Ninh named "Get Nice" in the same prestigious venue . As an outgrowth of this, he has played support to the likes of Paul Pre (Germany), The Gaslamp Killer (Brainfeeder, US), Ikonika (Hyperdub, UK), Nico Stojan, (Get Physical, Bar 25, URSL, Germany) appeared at local club nights The Nark, EX.D and The Junkyard, What Happened; and regularly contributed guest DJ mixes to radio shows in both Wellington and the UK.
Outside of his solo work, LRD JXN is also one half of the DJ duo Superautonomica and one third of experimental production ensemble Strobes. Written for the hips and the head, while LRD JXN's tunes are big on the dance floor, they're also equally valid through the headphones. Take a listen and let LRD JXN show you sound the way he envisions it.
