This year's been my most prolific (musically) in a long time. Don't know what it is but I've got more songs done in the first 5 1/2 months than I do most years.
If you've listened to much of my stuff, you've probably picked up that one of my favorite things about folk music is the infinite malleability of the best songs. I like to play 'em straight but I like to mess with 'em too. Sometimes I like an idea well enough to do both. Sometimes I'm not so sure my ideas were good until a few years later.
This one started with the idea of trying a gentle guitar and drum calypso arrangement. Obviously that went out the window as soon as I picked up the drum sticks, but it was nothing a little fuzz and a washtub bass turned up to 11 couldn't fix. Guitar & mandolin played through effects, rattley washtub bass, and a few drums of dubious origin.
