When hearing the concept “Live played electronic music”, some of our fellow earthlings might frown. Even more so when realizing that the music originates from the land of the famous “Heidi”. Mixing in the audio-visual element might then make that earthling truly go loco. Lunatic, insane, crazy… However this confusion is rapidly soothed, and then turned to delight, as the first beats of a Loco Slickers track kick in. These very same beats might sound like something out of a big city club, but in fact they are not the result of turntables spinning vinyl. Rather they are live played beats, which will jolt the dance floor and have your brain waves spinning. The ingredients for this electro house soup are synthesizers, electro drums, midified guitars and vocal cords. Sawtooth waves get sent through plastic tubes, guitar strings let virtual synthesizers oscillate, acid-soaked samples pass through speaker-freakin’ filters and drum pads get abused up to the point where the beats are as crunchy as potato chips. Throughout all this a certain affinity to funk can’t be ignored.

What the Loco Slickers bring to the stage, they have now packed in to a CD for all mankind, present and future. Those open minded enough to give these 12 tracks a chance will be rewarded with floor-shaking & moogalicious bass lines, pumping beats, 80’s synthesizers, talk box vocals, funky guitar riffs, a charming female voice and slamming MC lines gently entering their hearing organ. Diversity guaranteed. The broadcastings on radio VIRUS and DRS3 tell the tale and speak for themselves. However the Loco Slickers’ new release CD can’t capture the trashy 80’s style appearance, which the group superbly shows off on stage during their stunning live performances. Especially since the eyes of the attending crowd are reeled in not only by the gorgeous female vocalist, but also by the live visual performance of the VJ.

Beim Begriff „Live played electronic music“ mag der kritische Zeitgenosse berechtigterweise
schon mal die Stirn in Falten legen. Dass das Ganze auch noch dem Heidiland entstammen
soll, verwirrt ihn noch mehr. Und wenn sich dieses Produkt dann am Ende nicht nur hören,
sondern auch sehen lässt, ist es gut möglich, dass er gänzlich loco wird. Verrückt, irrsinnig,
meschugge... diese Ratlosigkeit löst sich aber bereits bei den ersten Takten eines Loco Slickers
Konzertes in reinstes Wohlgefallen auf. Sie vermögen wie eine Grossstadt-Disco zu klingen,
versetzen aber nicht das Vinyl, sondern ihre Gehirnströme in Rotation und bringen den Dancefloor
mit live gespielter Musik zum Beben.
Synthesizer, Electro-Drums, midifizierte Gitarren und Stimmbänder sind die Zutaten für dieses
einmalige Electro-House-Süppchen. Sägezahnwellen werden durch Plastikschläuche geleitet,
Gitarrensaiten bringen virtuelle Synthesizer zum Oszillieren, Samples werden durch Filter gejagt
und Drumpads malträtiert bis die Beats knackiger sind als Essiggurken. Und dabei lässt sich
eine ausgeprägte Affinität zum Funk definitiv nicht leugnen.

& famous“ für die Nachwelt auf CD festgehalten. Auf insgesamt 12 Tracks werden dem gewillten
Zuhörer fette, moog‘sche Basslines, pumpende Beats, 80’s-Synthies, Talkbox-Stimmen, funky
Gitarrenriffs, eine bezaubernde Frauenstimme und MC-Rhymes auf sanfte Weise in die Gehörgänge
geleitet. Für Abwechslung ist somit zweifellos gesorgt. Broadcastings auf Radio VIRUS
und DRS 3 sprechen jedenfalls für sich.
Was die aktuelle Scheibe der Loco Slickers nicht einzufangen vermag, ist zweifelsohne das
trashige, 80er-Jahre-inspirierte Erscheinungsbild bei ihren erstklassigen LIVE-Performances.
Zudem werden die Augen des Publikums nicht nur mit dem Anblick der grazilen Sängerin, sondern
auch mit einer Live-Visuals-Performance des VJ‘s verwöhnt.
