As an Amsterdam based artist Local Hero started out playing the saxophone as a teenager like any other wannabe artist would start out: improvising and playing along with records of famous jazz artists. This worked out exceptionally and after numerous sessions with bands and jam sessions Local Hero discovered the freedom of improvising on house music. From that moment on his career skyrocketed, playing with Boy George, Darren Emerson (Underworld), Fedde le Grand, Roog, Laidback Luke, Tomcraft, Robert Owens, Sidney Samson, Jose, Jaydee, La Ona, Paul Sparkes, Benny Rodrigues, Per, Erick E, Mark van Dale, Marnix and many, many more. Local Hero played alongside an incredible +500 dj’s in the last decade.
His style is as divers as music is, as he can play on almost any type of dance music. But club, house, minimal, electro, tech house, deep house, progressive and trance are doing it for him the most. In 2010 time came up to create an album. With ‘The Future Sound Of Paradise’ Local Hero made an house album, with progressive, deephouse, club, funk, jazz and classical influences. It is inspired on artists like Mark Knight, Sébastien Léger, Booka Shade, Trentemøller and Deadmau5. The album will be released by Veth Music at the end of 2010.
Some venues Local Hero played: Hotel Arena, Club Noa, Supperclub, Club NL, Winston, Lichtfabriek, Cocoon, Mazzo, Paard van Troje, Mansion, Escape, Noa, Rain, Woodstock, Club Manhattan, Wij, Rechter, Lexion, Jackies, Peppermill, Jimmy Woo, Asta, Matrixx and so on... He also played Love Parade 2003, Berlin, WMC 2004 at Nikki Beach, Club Bed, Hilversum Alive, Sail Amsterdam, Fast Forward Parade Rotterdam, Mecc Maastricht and the Marlin Bar in Miami and did tours in Russia and Belgium.
Most of all, Local Hero is not the next best thing, playing some tunes on house music. This musician goes with the flow, on the flow...
