Stats for this track
Those 17-years Cicadas again, this time up close and personal. In an attempt to distinguish individual insects, I used a parabola-mounted Telinga LSxx connected to an Olympus LS10 recorder, pointing it at Cicadas as they landed on a bush. In flight they make a clicking sound, and after landing they seem to puff themselves up and emit an extremely loud whirring sound.
You can hear these sounds in this clip, at one point all too clearly as a Cicada lands on the LSxx and does its thing...
I have more recordings, but they're more for my own reference than enjoyment, since the sound is simply overwhelming.
