Behind every great label, there is an equally great label boss, and for pelicanfly, that person is Thomas Duval aka DJ Slow. Since commencing in 2011, the Belgium-based record label has risen to the top of the underground dance scene in a relatively short time, and these days, you'd be hard pressed to bring up what's "next" in electronic music without mentioning Pelican Fly's multifaceted roster. From Mister Tweeks, to Sinjin Hawke, to the collective's newest member (and our newest obsession) Cashmere Cat, there has yet to be a lapse in the Pelican Fly chain, and this is large in part due to the hard work put in by DJ Slow. But curating a stout line-up is not the only thing this Brussels-based DJ does for his team. He also leads Pelican Fly's notorious monthly club night at one of dance music's most legendary venues, the Social Club in Paris, France. There, you'll find DJ Slow and his PF crew—along with whatever A+ guest they decide to host that night—moving through all formats of club music for an esteemed crowd that usually includes all the who's who in French electronic music. From French house, to UK Grime, to Jersey Club, to Atlanta rap, no style goes untouched at a Pelican Fly night, and is a true testament to the versatility of the label's fruitful sound. For our latest LFTF Mix, we asked DJ Slow to record an exclusive live set to give us a feel for what a night out at Pelican Fly's Paris Social Club monthly is like. Piecing together tracks from all across the board (from King Louie to Dubbel Dutch), the result is a premier example of what it means to be a well-rounded DJ in the year 2012.
