This interview with James McMurtry was recorded for The Happy Hour on WRUV-FM in May 2008. We learn how he feels about his earlier songs, why he enjoys "the download era", and the intention behind the song "Cheney's Toy". James is a rather fictional songwriter, but we learn which song of his is really from James' perspective, which fellow songwriter he can't help but listen to, an interesting comparison between 1960's and George W.-era wartime, and which city feels like home to James. Recommended before or after listening to the interview: Listen to the songs discussed: "Painting by Numbers", "Cheney's Toy", "We Can't Make It Here Anymore".
