"Lena is an amazingly gifted and soulful musician from Russia who can eat most of her peer saxophonists on this planet for breakfast, lunch and dinner in one gulp. She can also swing you into bad health with any musical offering she wishes to perform"
Keith Copeland, percussionist
Originally from Moscow, Russia, Lena Bloch immigrated to Israel in 1990, to attend Rubin Academy of Music and Dance - and since then traveled the world, performing in various settings in Israel, Holland, Italy, Germany, Belgium, England, Canada, Russia, Slovenia and United States.
In Europe Lena has performed with fabulous jazz musicians and masters, such as Mal Waldron, Johnny Griffin, Horace Parlan, Keith Copeland, John Marshall, Alvin Queen, Steve Reid.
After she moved to United States, Lena worked with Vishnu Wood, Arturo O'Farrill, George Schuller, Billy Mintz, Dave Shapiro, Roberta Picket, Scott Wendholt, Dan Tepfer, Kim Clarke, Bertha Hope, Ted Brown, Murray Wall, Michael Kanan...

Lena incorporates Middle-Eastern and Eastern European elements into the jazz idiom, achieving a unique sound. She is also an inventive improviser and a refreshing performer of standard jazz material.
