This native of Philadelphia is as intriguing and gritty as the streets that raised him. At a time where the market is saturated with get rich quick trends; his soulful yet edgy approach sets him apart from his peers. Legacy Brock is a true believer of not conforming into the boxes and limitations that society imposes. This rebel spirit shines through in the gifted Mc's work.
Legacy Brock (born Dushaun Brock) got his start at age 12 channeling his anger and pain into poetry after tragic events led to the untimely death of his father. After a decision too save her three boys from the cycle of inner- city violence Legacy's mother moved them to Jersey. The trauma of the lost and the culture shock of the moved force Legacy Brock into a spiral. Legacy Brock was heading in a direction that could have led to his demise. Music would prove to be his saving grace. The young Mc honed his skills free-styling for hours on end over random instrumentals found on singles around the house. That process morphed into the writing of songs and the rest is history.
Brock's early work was in a group formed in high school called The 5th Infantry. “The five of us would come home and lock ourselves in Cool Million's basement and go at it for a straight 5-6 hour session”. The group broke up shortly after high school. Even though they remain close friends to this day. As a solo artist Legacy has appeared on countless mixtapes including the acclaimed DJ Green Lantern series. Drawing from emotions whether good, bad, or indifferent Brock gives a piece of self in every 16.
With his first solo release Feast or Famine vol 1 Legacy Brock aims to carve out a new lane and add a healthy alternative to "fast food rap" by offering up some “Soul food.”
Whether addressing social plights, recording paranoid thoughts “Trust Issues” or just toasting to life “Celebration” Legacy Brock proves he is an artist serious about his craft. In his words “I pride myself on constant progression, and will not stop until I'm a voice that you're accustomed to hearing….
